This altar was constructed for the gatekeeper. Papa legba stands at the Poto Mitan and monitors which spirits are let into a ceremony.

When entering a cemetery it is always important to acknowledge the first and oldest buried there. For it is by their choice to whether or not you may have communion with the spirits that lie there. Honoring the first grave is very important ritual, after doing so you may come and give veneration to the sprits that speak to you there. Always leave an offering of some kind to show reverence.

Your Ancestors

This is a photo of my Ancestors Altar. Along with them are some of my beloved pets who have also passed into Ginen (Sacred waters).
On this altar I provide a candle, liquor, trinkets and all the things that my beloved would have enjoyed while alive.
I make sure the altar stays clean and I light an incense when I approach them. Always show respect to all spirits. Treat them as you would if they were still with you- because THEY ARE!!

Her colors are pink and white and she like creamy, sweet cakes and white wine. She is very particular in how she is served. when she arrives in a ceremony she speaks perfect French and wants to marry the men of her choosing.
She is Married to Ogou and Danballah which is represented in the egg on her table. She hates cigarrettes and likes the smell of perfumes and lotions.
Papa Legba

This Altar is dedicated to Papa Legba. He is the keeper of Gates and guides the spirits from Heaven to Earth, the cross is his symbol.
Here I convene with him on all sorts of troubles. I ask him for advise and sing songs for him to open the doorways and pathways for the spirits to come and greet.
I have his cane and several offerings available when he comes such as; fresh water, pipe or tobacco and rum or whiskey to quench his thirst.
